This “creative lifestyle” trend is pile of shit. Websites and magazines like Kinfolk fetishize the APPEARANCE of being creative, as if its defined by what brand stool you have or how unusual your garden shindigs are. None of these publications even remotely try to truly delve into what being creative means, or where inspiration and motivation come from. Its just easier to photograph and talk to the person about their “space” with old film cameras, unread books and nick-nacks laying around and definite it as creativity.
I like pictures of people smoking. Not because it looks cool, but because its like a tragic poem, a sad story. Or it reminds me of a time when we weren’t all know it all’s and health experts, like we didn’t know it was slowly killing us, so we didn’t care.
